Catching the insurtech innovation express will be essential for insurers to thrive, as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics press their way into mainstream insurance.

The fear of being left behind haunts many insurers’ boardrooms as much as the opportunities to break into new markets excites many innovators from outside the industry.
What they have in common is a thirst for knowledge and insight into the opportunities insurtech can unlock. That will have them scouring conference programs around the world this fall for the best speakers and most innovative sessions.
Insurtech goes global
The biggest event is InsurTech Connect, which takes place in Las Vegas on October 2 and 3, including pre-conference workshop sessions the day before the full event. With more than 200 speakers, 50+ sessions, and approximately 6,000 attendees expected, it is hard to imagine anything else coming near to it in scale or successfully challenging its claim to be the “most comprehensive gathering of tech entrepreneurs, investors, and insurance industry incumbents from across the globe.”
There is a wide variety of C-suite speakers, from both traditional players and start-ups, and the event offers “two and a half days of networking, insights, and sharing from more than 200 world-class speakers.”
When you successfully mix some of the world’s largest insurers, including AIG, Allianz, and Zurich, with newer entrants like Lemonade and Coya, you have an ideal atmosphere for networking, learning, and inspiration.
Showcasing insurtech in London and Hong Kong
London hosts InsurTech Rising Europe over three days from September 10 through 12.
InsurTech Rising has worked hard to pull in an impressive range of insurtech innovators as speakers and panelists across multiple topic streams, including the internet of things (IoT), big data, robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), and more.
During the three days, more than 40 handpicked start-ups will also demonstrate their offerings at what the organizers anticipate will be Europe’s largest insurtech showcase.
Insurtech Rising Asia takes place on October 22 and 23 in Hong Kong, and boasts more than 350 attendees, 100+ insurance executives, and 30+ insurtech demos during its two days of focus on helping attendees to “understand the tech defining tomorrow.”
Insurtech and fintech intersect in Singapore
Insurtech is just one of many innovative themes on tap at this year’s week-long Singapore Fintech Festival, running November 12 through 16 at the Singapore EXPO Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition to keynotes and leaders dialogues, the festival boasts an Innovation Lab Crawl, industry networking, behind-the-scenes fireside chats, a global investor summit and more.
Insurtech in the Middle East and Africa
Bahrain Fintech Bay, which promotes itself as the largest fintech hub in the Middle East, will host this year’s InsurByte 2018 on September 27. The event promises to showcase the “latest innovations and applications for the insurance industry” via a blend of keynote speeches, fireside chats, start-up pitches, and more, in a “collaborative, open, and transparent manner.”
Insurtech makes its mark in Bermuda
Global Reinsurance Innovation and Insurtech will host the “largest insurtech event to take place in Bermuda” on November 19 and the event organizers have again teamed up with global innovation network Plug and Play to enable meaningful connections among start-ups and established corporations.
The day opens with a keynote from Rob High, IBM Fellow, vice president, and chief technology officer (CTO) of IBM Watson, “The World Revolution of Artificial Intelligence,” which is followed by a full day of panel discussions, additional keynotes, and pitches from six handpicked start-ups.
